Pelicans owner: The decision to fire Green was difficult, but my goal is to build a championship team
6686 Sports News, November 15, the Pelicans officially announced today that the team fired coach Willie Green and assistant coach Borrego will serve as the interim coach.
In the official statement released by the team, Pelicans President Joe Dumars said: "After careful evaluation, we have made the difficult decision to make adjustments at the head coach position. I have the highest respect for Willie Green and am truly grateful for his service to the Pelicans and New Orleans. community. We wish him and his family all the best for the future."
Team owner Gail Benson said: "As I said, the basketball operations decisions of the team are handled by Joe Dumars, and as one of the best basketball minds in the league, I believe he will serve. Our team made the right decision."

So far this season, the Pelicans have only achieved a record of 2 wins and 10 losses, ranking last in the Western Conference.
