Cristiano Ronaldo talks about missing Jota's funeral: I haven't attended a funeral since my father passed away, I don't want too much attention
6686 Sports News on November 6th The second part of Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with the well-known host Morgan was released today. In this part of the interview, Cristiano Ronaldo talked about the reasons for his absence from the funeral of Portuguese teammate Jota.
Morgan: Portugal teammate Jota and his brother died in a car accident. This is shocking. Where were you at the time and what was your reaction?
C Ronaldo: I was on vacation at the time and was in the gym with Georgina in the morning. When I received the bad news, I couldn’t believe it and cried for a long time. It was an extremely difficult time for the entire country, family, friends and teammates. Oh my gosh, this disaster, such heartbreaking news.
He was a nice guy, introverted, and a good football player, you know, but he was very, how should I put it, not very talkative... I really loved meeting him and sharing those good times with him, and it was so sad.
Morgan: You didn't attend their funeral because your sister said she didn't want the whole thing to draw too much attention to you. What do you think?
C Ronaldo: I think there are two things that can be evaluated about me. One is that I don’t care about those. When you feel that you have a conscience, you don’t have to worry about what others say; the other is that since my father passed away, I have never been to a funeral. Yes, never again. If I go, attention will be focused on me, and I don’t want that kind of attention.
People can continue to criticize me, or their leverage is gone, and I'm happy with my decision.
