Kane: I am in the best competitive shape of my career, Germany and France will be World Cup competitors
6686 Sports News, November 16th, Beijing time tomorrow at 1:00 am, England will challenge Albania in the World Cup visiting team. Team forward Kane attended the pre-match press conference.
Do you feel that you are currently in the best competitive shape of your career?
I think so. There have been many highlight moments throughout my career, but from a physical and mental perspective, my current level of involvement in the competition has reached the best level of competition. I'm currently playing for England, one of the best teams in the world, and I'm at a good stage with Bayern. So, so far, so good.
On taking on the role of dropping back to receive the ball in the game against Serbia:
The coach saw the potential for more changes in play, so we changed the formation and allowed the attacking players to find one-on-one opportunities. The key for me is that this helps us get out of the early stages of the game, and it actually works really well. Especially in big games, this is important. If your opponent adopts a different formation during the match, you must be able to make adjustments mid-match. We are just diligently preparing ourselves for any opponent we may face in next year's World Cup.
About the coach and the team:
The coach is very clear in communicating with his players. He explains his role requirements to everyone, including some players who may not get a chance to play. Competition for many positions is fierce and everyone knows their position and who their competition is. I think it allows the players to easily integrate into the team and it's a healthy competition that motivates each other to keep moving forward.
The World Cup year is of great significance. Everyone is looking forward to participating in the World Cup. This is the most important game in your career. The competition is right around the corner and the coach doesn’t have much time to examine you, which will naturally stimulate your fighting spirit. Players are naturally more motivated to prove themselves and strive to enter the national team.
About this competition:
We are still very motivated. Even though we know we've qualified and Albania are in the play-offs, we still haven't conceded a goal and I think that in itself is a huge motivation. It would be a huge incentive if we could keep a clean sheet throughout the qualifiers. It's also about playing to our level and if we do that, we believe we can beat any team in the world, no matter who the opponent is.
Which of your Bayern teammates will be your biggest rival in next year's World Cup?
France will play a big role in next year's World Cup and Olise and I often joke about it. Then, the German players in the team are looking forward to going further in the World Cup. There will be healthy competition and banter between us, everyone talking about who can win the World Cup next summer.
