Since the team's core Ball suffered an ankle injury against the Timberwolves, he has missed four consecutive games against the Jazz, Pelicans, Heat and Lakers. During his absence, the Hornets recorded only 1 win and 3 losses.
Plumley signed a one-year, $3.6 million contract with the Hornets this summer, but he averaged only 4 minutes per game this season. Ball is still averaging 23.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.7 interceptions per game this season.
